Tasting - "Fuerza Ego bodegas"
This wine was one of the darkest reds that I have tried!
- Name: Fuerza Ego bodegas
- Variety: Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon
- Region: Jumilla
- Country: Spain
- Year: Non-vintage
- Price: $10
- Wine Critic Review: "This ripe, warm-smelling blend of 75% Monastrell and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon deals aromas of jammy blackberry and baked plum. The palate is thick and chewy, with leathery flavors of roasted plum and baked berry fruits. Notes of raisin, chocolate, and earthy spice can be found on a lush finish. Drink through 2018." - My Review: For the price point this wine tasted expensive. It smelled potently of dark cherries. The wine was beautifully smooth with balanced tannic flavor. It had a real spiciness and warmth to it that gave off the impression of cloves and oak.
- I drank this wine with some penne pasta that I cooked with sweet Italian sausage, green peppers, and tomato sauce. The food made the wine taste more tannic and acidic, probably due to the sweetness of the Italian sausage. The acidity paired well with the tomato sauce and brought out its underlying sweetness.
